Being a local resident of Greenville since 2001, and visiting South Carolina since his early childhood visiting his Aunt in Charleston, John has a great grasp of the area. His wife is an Upstate girl so coming to the Upstate since 1989 gives John a thorough knowledge of the area from the mountains and lakes to Spartanburg area. John is one of the top agents of Greenville, and the Allen Tate downtown office since 2002; having been rated in the top 5% among 3500 agents in GGAR association in total sales volume in 2021 . He is a hands on agent who can be trusted to handle your real estate transaction from beginning to closing. He is an advocate for both buying and selling. He prides himself on quick communication via phone, text or email, as he is a true 24 / 7 agent.
The real estate market is ever changing. John survived the sub- prime real estate market of 2008-2009 when other agents were falling out by the wayside. The Greenville market has changed dramatically over his 20 years in the local real estate business; seeing a booming downtown grow before his eyes; to the bustling suburbs of Simpsonville, Travelers Rest and Greer. John prides himself to be able to help clients from the lakes of Keowee, Jocassee , and Hartwell to Spartanburg. With Allen Tate’s extensive on going training, John is able keep up with current trends, market changes and legal changes that help him to position his clients with their best foot forward.
Last year ,John finished 2022 in the Chairmen’s Circle at Allen Tate which constitutes sales of $10-19 million in the calendar year. John received the Allen Tate Legend’s award this year signifying a career sold volume of the $75 million dollar mark.
When John is not handling his real estate work, he and his wife of 30+years spend time keeping up with their 4 adult children, and two grandchildren with two on the way. His wife ,Ruth, works for the Greenville County School District which helps John get the inside scoop on the top performing schools. They have three graduates from Clemson currently, with onegraduating this winter. His other daughter is persuing a culinary career in Charleston. The Neil’s are ’foodies’ for sure! Ruth and John are involved with their church in downtown Greenville as well as supporting Young Life, Emmanuel’s Hammer and the arts. John has coached girls basketball at his church since 2005 , and continues eventhough he has no one playing. He recently was involved in the Challenge to Conquer Cancer C3, a week long trip where teams of cyclists ride to Maine to raise money for the local Cancer Research Center in Greenville, as well as the Demsey Center in Lewiston, ME. The team raised well over $150K getting their total for the time doing it to close to $2.5 million.
John prides himself also on helping his clients with any and all needs. He loves to tell them the best places to eat, get a car fixed, find a good doctor, the best golf course, or fishing hole, etc. His biggest blessing is when after closing, his client becomes his friend. He goes into every transaction treating all clients like he would like to be treated with patience and respect. Read the testimonies of John for the real story about him.
